Renin is an important enzyme secreted from juxtaglomerular apparatus in the kidney
that controls blood pressure and circulation of electrolytes. Up to new, PRA(Plsma
Renin Activity), determined through angiotensin I level measured by RIA, has been
used to express renin level. However, the traditional method is somewhat complicated
and its procedure is liable to be affected by a lot of factors such as substrate or pH.
For that reason monoclonal antibody came to be used to measure ARC(Activer Renin
Concentration) directly. In the study, we compared the results by ARC method with
those by PRA on the patients with varius type of illness.
